Scouting Is Fun With a Purpose!
Cub Scout Pack 51 is chartered by LifeCity Church and is in the Simon Kenton Council. Our program consists of boys and now girls that are entering into the Kindergarten through 5th grades. Together we make up a PACK. A boy or girl can join Cub Scouts at anytime and at any age in that range. Each grade works and has fun separately from the others in a DEN. As a Pack, Dens participate together in Pack, District and Council sponsored events. See our Family Scouting section for more information.
Here are a few words from the Boy Scouts of America web site that best describe the aim and goals of scouting:
"Cub Scouting means "doing." Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting — citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack. The most important are the weekly den meetings and the monthly pack meetings. Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging."
"Since its beginning, the Cub Scout program has been a fun and educational experience concerned with values. Besides providing a positive place where boys can enjoy safe, wholesome activities, Cub Scouting focuses on building character, improving physical fitness, teaching practical skills, and developing a spirit of community service."
